John T Kariuki

Principal Officer – Technical Fraud Detection & Analytics , Safaricom Kenya

John Kariuki is a technology and fraud management professional with over 15 years of experience in telecoms and financial services ecosystems. At Safaricom PLC, he leads real-time fraud detection and analytics including M-PESA transaction profiling and monitoring as well as CDR analytics protecting one of Africa’s largest mobile money platforms.

John specializes in fraud control automation and predictive modelling across emerging threat vectors including fintech fraud schemes, GSM telco frauds, API abuse, and digital identity risks. His background in enterprise integration and process automation gives him an end-to-end view of Business Assurance from AI-driven detection through revenue protection and assurance maturity frameworks.

He holds an MBA from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, a BSc in Software Engineering from Kenyatta University, and certifications including Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), ITIL V4 ,Oracle Certified Professional (OCP), and is currently pursuing ACFE certification(Certified Fraud Examiner).
